There's more to proper document redacting than meets the eye...
Updated: May 9

Magic marker redactions may obscure data to the naked eye, but not to AI.
Magic markers are not enough. White-out tape is insufficient. Combined they may not be sufficient to prevent data loss. AI can read through your "old school" attempts to hide confidential data.
AI tools can see, reconstruct or even infer what you have attempted to cover up in the name of confidentiality. No matter how careful you may be in attempting to hide sensitive information or data, your efforts may not work considering the probing eyes of artificial intelligence systems.
For example, creating a Word document with information which should not be made public can be exceptionally dangers to your business and time. "Text layers" can still be identified by public large language services and tools using Optical Character Recognition tools.
Even when you redact, different layers of data may still be visible to the mind of an AI agent or publicly available service.
When redacting, you want to use genuine redaction methods that actually remove text and medadata, and not just cover it up.
Educating your employees on proper redaction policies should be part of every AI governance plan.
Suddenly, proper redaction is an art, not just a technicality.
